Overview

Aims

The aim is to build the Landcare brand in the Bellingen Shire as a volunteer based movement to improve community, business and government agency understanding of the role of Landcare as a grassroots movement which harnesses the energy of volunteers and land managers. The aim is promote the importance of supporting land managers to undertake actions for biodiversity conservation and to improve the provision of ecosystem services such as clean water, clean air, healthy soil which we rely on for food and aesthetic qualities. We wish to increase our income through better marketing of our services and sponsorship.

Outcomes

Improved understanding of communities, landholders, businesses and government agencies of the role of Landcare as an effective grass roots, member based network and community movement taking action to address climate change, biodiversity loss and ecosystem decline.
Maximise the reach and effectiveness of social media and mainstream media campaigns.
Clear direction on how to successfully market our services and improve our income through a clear marketing plan and appealing sponsorship prospectus.

Needs to be addressed

We are finding that there is a poor understanding of the role of Landcare in our shire. There also is a need to address ongoing reductions in funding from State and Federal government. The need for a marketing and communications plan, and sponsorship prospectus are identified in our newly developed business plan. The project address lack of staff and volunteer time to do this.

Benefits to students
