To provide connection to the communities vulnerable by providing a safe, non-judgmental and positive place for people to come get their clothes washed, have a hot shower and have genuine connections with others.
Our volunteers say they get a lot more out of our program than what they put in. We want to see people experiencing homelessness in the Northern Rivers connected with the community and being treated with dignity and respect. We are helping to positively connect our friends in need through free laundry, showers and conversation.
Basic hygiene for those experiencing homelessness as well as connection to the community. Volunteers have one of the most important jobs at Orange Sky – to connect with our friends through genuine and non-judgmental conversation. It might sound simple, but we’ve seen first-hand how a positive connection can impact a person’s life. In the hour that it takes to do a load of laundry, we sit down on our six orange chairs and have a chat – it’s a simple opportunity for every day Australians to connect. You can help to make a difference by volunteering a few hours of your time each fortnight.
Increased connection to the community, increased mental health and purpose by giving back to another. Drivers and a non-judgmental positive attitude required!
Promotion of volunteering opportunities. We are a new service to the community and need to increase awareness of our presence.
