Are you passionate about working with children? Opportunities are open at the Northern Rivers Community Gateway’s Out-of-School-Hours-Care locations to join in our Rainbow Region Kids project: Discovery Club @ Rainbow Region Kids. Students with a passion to work with children are encouraged to apply. We welcome International students and would love them to share their traditions and cultural with the children. Jabiru Wetlands Ecology Project

Jabiru Geneebeinga Wetland Restoration Working Group

Is wetland ecology your thing? We are looking for students to undertake research to help volunteers rehabilitate and restore a wetland significant for migratory birds, whilst building up a complete reference of the history, flora and fauna including weeds and introduced species, whilst building and promoting cultural, educational, environmental and tourism outcomes of the wetlands. Research could be done by a desktop review, and independent site visits. This project would suit students studying tourism or environmental science for example the Integrated Project (SCI00211).

Orange Sky Australia

Do you want to make a difference in your community? Orange Sky Australia is on a mission to help positively connect the 116,000 Australians who are experiencing homelessness. Volunteer for 2 hours each fortnight to provide a service to the community experiencing homelessness. We have a mobile laundry and shower van that provides a place for positive connection to those who are in need. This opportunity suits student volunteers or students enrolled in SOY10105 and COM30001.

Springbrook Mountain Community Association

Make an impact in the Springbrook community! Springbrook is a vibrant small community in the Hinterland of the Gold Coast, full of passionate people. We are a semi isolated community without the ability to draw from a wide range of skills and resources like other suburbs can. We are hoping to survey the opinions, attitudes and feelings of the residents and landholders of Springbrook regarding infrastructure decisions and potentially divisive and contested future proposals. This would be suitable for students interested in volunteering opportunities or looking to undertake a research project in Session 3.

Schools Paper Plane Competition

Centenary Flight Community Group

Do you have a passion for aviation and local history? Celebrate the centenary of the first approved Air Mail flight in Australia from Lismore via Casino to Tenterfield on 26th June 1920. The paper plane competition across schools in the three centres will culminate with the winner being given a flight on a plane during the aerial part of the program in Lismore. This project would suit student volunteers and students enrolled in the following units; COM30001, COM00471, SOY10114.
