Overview

Aims

The Quad is the new green space in Lismore's CBD - based between the new Gallery, Library and Conservatorium of Music. Working with the Quad's the Placemaking Officer, this projects seeks sports science students to collaboratively:

• Develop, design and test exercise programs in Lismore's new town square
• engage sports science students to develop and test their skills and programs in a public site
• test whether there is interest in regular free active programs such as football games, boot camp, yoga etc.

We are looking for students who have an:

• Ability to design and deliver physical education programs
• Interest in designing new programs to interact with community
• Knowledge of safety requirements of working in a public space.

Outcomes

• Test different styles of physical programs to see what gains interest
• Build an awareness that the Quad can be used for physical activities on a regular basis.

Needs to be addressed

• Address the lack of physical programming currently occurring in the Quad
• Provide opportunities for community health and well being
• Build capacity for students to try new ideas in public space
• Try new and innovative programming ideas
• Provide diverse programming for the community.


Skills required of project members:
• Ability to run and design physical education programs
• Interest in designing new programs to interact with community
• Knowledge of safety requirements of working in a public space.
