Overview

Aims

Initially to develop the basic Geographic Information Systems, with future extensions of the project to include features such as walking tracks, recording aspects of the Dirawong for the future; examples include areas of Aboriginal cultural significance, Chinese and European mining history, vegetation mapping including weeds; topographic information such as areas of drainage potentially affecting to the pygmy perch habitat. A further extension could be to the provision of a mobile app for walking track display Basic GIS platform with possible future extensions for example to allow availability for access via mobile phone.

Outcomes

A basic Geographic Information Systems representation of the Reserve with detail of topography and the ability to include other geographical details in future; possible extension to mobile phone app.

Needs to be addressed

Development of GIS platform for Dirawong will assist in management of the Reserve for protection of flora and fauna, preservation of Indigenous and European cultural history and provision of passive recreation in the Reserve
